Fragaria vesca 'Ivory' is a white fruiting alpine type that doesn't produce runners. The variety seems to be productive, though we have not had it in our productivity trials to date. Like many of the white and yellow fruiting alpines the fruit has a hint of pineapple flavor. The variety is worth trialing in your garden.

We recently found a scientific study that compared red and white fruiting Fragaria x ananassa varieties to F. vesca cultivars for flavonoid and polyphenol content. One of the interesting findings was that F. vesca Ivory produced the highest content of ellagic acid. Ellagic acid is being extensively tested because of its connection to cancer prevention and treatment.
