Also note: this cultivar produces an abundance of runners. With proper management you should not need to reorder seeds in the future.
Also called Smultron. The cultivar name 'Rödluvan' translates to Red Riding Hood. It was developed in Sweden by Åke Truedsson, and is the result of a cross of the white wild and an Italian alpine strawberry. The fruit is very large for a Fragaria vesca and has the unmistakable wild flavor and aroma. It is a June bearing type so you will get a single large spring crop. Produces many runners.
We believe this cultivar has tremendous potential for indoor growing due to its large fruit and productivity. We suggest cropping them the first year and then digging in the fall and storing the roots, giving them ample chilling to set buds. Bare root plants can then be forced with plantings over multiple weeks to extend the harvest over several months.
25+ seeds per packet. Very limited availability. Seed produced in Delaware U.S.A.
We have to hand count these packets. Inventory may go to zero but we will restock asap.
