Alexandria was tops in one of our early production trials. The plants are vigorous with few to no runners. The red fruit typically is not a scarlet color but a lighter red that may appear to be dark orange. The plants are fast growers and we have found this variety to be productive and a good germinator.
It was first offered commercially in the U.S. by George W. Park Seed Co. in 1964, though it descends from European cultivated forms.
